Biography – Alan
Donaldson
Alan studied photography in
Glasgow. He became involved with food and hospitality through Caterer
and Hotelkeeper magazine, still a client today.
He has produced a number of food books primarily with B&W publishing.
The
Herald approached him to do a series of food articles with Shirley
Spear at The Three Chimneys, Winner of 2007 Hotel Review Scotland
Award for Best
Restaurant with Rooms, culminating in The Three Chimneys cook book. It was
through The
Herald that Marjorie and Alan developed their relationship which
has led to Foodie Creative. He still contributes to The Herald on a weekly
basis with Martin Wishart, a Michelin Starred Scottish Chef.
Over the last few years food packaging has become important and Alan has
worked with Andrew Fairlie, Scottish Chef of the Year and Winner of 2 Michelin
Stars,
on pictures for Bartletts potatoes.
With
Foodie Creative Alan and Marjorie have forged links with a number of
clients producing stylish pictures be it
of simple mash potato or elaborate finished
dishes.

• Worked and cooked in New York, Tokyo, London.
Masterchef
2000 : this BBC Television Series in its original format, ran for 10
years and over it’s lifetime uncovered the culinary
talents of just 10 amateur chefs, from many thousands of applicants
throughout the UK.
Of the Professional Judges, Anton Mossiman and Gary Rhodes were among those
who judged Marjorie’s menus, preparation and cooking skills through to
the final programme where she won the coveted title.
As
a result. Marjorie carries out Food Styling and Writing for various
Marketing Companies, Tesco, Safeway, Good Food, The Herald, Rannoch
Smokery, The Scotsman,
The
Press and
Journal.
